Rihanna's Cover Art for "Anti" Album Goes Viral
Riri is making headlines yet again, this time for the thought provoking art work behind her new album, "ANTi".
The cover which features a young, partially nude Rihanna, has everyone all over trying to figure out its seemingly cryptic message. In the image you see the young BBHMM singer wearing a gold crown over her eyes, while holding a dark-colored balloon. The image is then taken a step further with its red, blood-like over paint. adding to its ambiguous context. The art is also somehow blurred, giving spectators a good dose of double-vision.
Rihanna explained she was drawn to artist Roy Nachum for the art work due to his ability to see things beyond the surface. "I fell in love with him because I felt like there was another spirit, there was another layer to the art. After we met, we talked about what I wanted visually, what would make me the happiest girl in the world," she said.
When looked at closely, you can see that the entire image is also covered in Braille, a major component of the entire body of work. The Braille is actually a poem by Chloe Mitchell, whose work was also sampled by artists like Kanye West. (Blame Game) Kanye is also the executive producer on the "ANTi" album. In reference to the Braille Rihanna said: “The whole idea behind the Braille is that people who have sight are sometimes the people who are blindest."
I'm still a little baffled by the image , but one thing for sure it is beautiful and intriguing,
A release date for the album – which has so far spawned three singles;FourFiveSeconds, American Oxygen and Bitch Better Have My Money – has yet to be announced.
