The Most Underrated Albums of 2019!

2019 definitely renewed my faith in good music! I mean seriously, I was getting a bit nervous with all of the repetitive ad-libs and codeine talk ( no shade). I’ve been praying to the music gods to bring back lyricism and quality vocals (auto tune not included), and thankfully my prayers were answered.

Year of The Breakout Artist. There were a ton of artists who blew up this year including Lizzo, DaBaby and Billie Eilish. Each of these artists also received Grammy nods which is a major accomplishment of course, but in the semi-paraphrased words of 2009 Kanye West: “Yo Lizzo, DaBaby and Billie Eilish, I’m really happy for you guys, Imma let ya’ll finish, but there were a ton of other artists that put out some of the best albums of 2019!” Artists like, Ari Lennox, Mahalia, BJ The Chicago Kid, Kaash Paige, Mariah The Scientist, SiR , Snoh Aalegra and Asiahn (the list goes on and on) put out some of my fave albums of the year!

Mahalia (Love and Compromise), Ari Lennox (Shea Butter Baby) Bj The Chicago Kid (1123), Kaash Paige (Parked Car Convos), Mariah The Scientist (Master), SiR (Chasing Summer), Snoh Aalegra (-Ugh, Those Feels Again) and Asiahn (Love Train 2).

Now you’ll notice that almost all of these albums are R&B, and that’s simply because that’s the genre I’m naturally drawn to. There’s just something about a good rhythmic tune that stirs the soul!
