TV News: Tyrese Joins Empire and Basketball Wives of LA Returns on Sunday
I don't get to watch TV as often as I would like, but on the rare occasions that I do, you can be rest assured that I am watching reality TV. It wasn't until recently that I became obssesed with scripted dramas. Shows like Power and Empire have been my new obsession and have definitely given me yet another way to live vicariously through the crazy lives of others.
"Non-Fiction Drama". VH1's Basketball Wives of LA is making its return, premiering in its fourth season on Sunday night. In true Basketball Wives fashion, this season is expected to be filled with gossiping, catfighting and just plain drama!
This time around, the Basketball Wives OG's are making a comeback: creator Shaunie O'Neal (ex-wife of legendary Los Angeles Laker Shaquille O'Neal) and Tami Roman (ex-wife of Kenny Anderson). With these two back in the mix we can definitely count on that extra bit of drama. There are a couple new faces expecting to join the crew, only to help stir the pot of course!
This season should definitely see a spike in ratings after the recent and very public breakup between one of the show's stars, Draya Michelle and Cowboy's football player Orlando Scandrick. The two recently called off their wedding engagement and have since been involved in a heated feud on social media. On this season of BBWLA, the two are expected to have some scenes together and Scandrick is a apparently a frequent part of the show. (This should be interesting). The season premieres tonight at 9p.m. ET on VH1.
Here are this season's cast mates!
An Urban Soap Opera. Ever since Fox's Empire premiered earlier this year in January people have not stopped talking about the show and its star-studded cast. The hit show which already boasts an impressive list of A-list stars is turning it up even more in season two with appearances by Alicia Keys, Chris Rock, Zac Efron and Kelly Rowland (who was snagged to play Lucious Lyon’s mother in a series of flashback scenes). The latest celeb to join the cast is nine other than "Jodi" himself, Tyrese! The singer/actor is no stranger to the acting scene. He has appeared in a number of films including The Fast & Furious and the widely popular Baby Boy in which he also plays alongside his Empire cast mate, Taraji P. Henson. Not since the days of MTV's hit Hip Hopera, Carmen have we seen a more melodramatic performance by a predominately African American cast.
