Meek Mill Announces Album Release Date, Talks Partnering With Jay Z, & Criminal Justice Reform with Vogue Magazine

Rapper Meek Mill was still technically out on bail when we sat down in his studio in New York City to discuss the other thing, aside from music, he has decided to dedicate his life to:criminal justice reform.

Born Robert Rihmeek Williams, he was 19 when he first “caught his case,” when he was arrested in his hometown of Philadelphia in 2007. He uses the word caught because, despite serving his time, and for some crimes he has always denied committing, those charges have plagued him for the past decade. Even while recording his much-anticipated new album, which he will release on November 30, he felt the stress of being on probation: “It’s a dark shadow over the top of your head on a daily basis.”

Meek Mill’s case picked up mainstream attention when he was sent back to jail in November 2017 by Judge Genece E. Brinkley, who has presided over his fate since first sentencing him in 2008. By then, Meek Mill was a hugely successful rapper. His first album, Dreams and Nightmares, had debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 in 2012, after he signed with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation management; he had his own label imprint, Dream Chasers Records; he had dated Nicki Minaj and feuded with Drake—he was very famous.

Directed by the incredible, Dave Meyers and Travis Scott, “Sicko Mode” was shot in Houston and opens with Drake and Travis kicking it in a parking lot. “Yeah, this shit way too formal, y’all know I don’t follow suit,” Travis raps. “Stacey Dash, most of these girls ain’t got a clue.”

Astroworld was released in August, also featuring a range of artists, including Kid Cudi, Frank Ocean, The Weeknd, James Blake and many others. Since then, Drake and Travis have performed the track at numerous occasions during Drake’s Aubrey & The Three Migos tour. And fans have been demanding a music video from the two stars for obvious reasons.

Drake Explains Blackface Photo After Pusha T Releases Diss Track: The Story of Adidon

Drake responds. Well kinda...

The 31-year-old rapper took to his Instagram Stories yesterday after making headlines for his ongoing feud with rapper Pusha T. Most of the drama centers around Pusha T’s new song, “The Story of Adidon,” which dropped on Tuesday, which is a diss track in response to Drake's song, “Duppy Freestyle.” 

The feud between the two rap stars reignited last week when Pusha's new album, produced by Kanye West, was released. In his song “Infrared,” Pusha T accuses Drake of continuing to use a ghostwriter, Quentin Miller to write songs for him.

The cover art for Pusha's lastest track, "The Story of Adidon" has made headlines as it appears to be an old photo of Drake in blackface paint. Pusha T has insisted that the image was not "artwork" and is real portrait of the Canadian rapper, and Drake did not dispute this in his social media statement:

“I know everyone is enjoying the circus but I want to clarify this image in question,” he wrote. “This was not from a clothing brand shoot or my music career. This picture is from 2007, a time in my life where I was an actor and I was working on a project that was about young black actors struggling to get roles, being stereotyped and type cast.”

“The photos represented how African Americans were once wrongfully portrayed in entertainment,” Drake continued. “Me and my best friend at the time, Mazin Elsadig, who is also an actor from Sudan, were attempting to use our voice to bring awareness to the issues we dealt with all the time as black actors at auditions.”

The "Nice For What" rapper did not mention Pusha by name or reference the song in his statement, but rather concluded, “This was to highlight and raise our frustrations with not always getting a fair chance in the industry and to make a point that the struggle for black actors has not changed much."

In "The Story of Adidon," Pusha does mention Drake by name in one of his lyrics as well as Drake's father and mother, Dennis and Sandi Graham. The 41-year-old musician goes on to rap about an illegitimate child, leading many fans to believe he's alluding to Drake having a secret son.

"Let 'em know who you chose as your Beyoncé. Sophie knows better as your baby mother," Pusha raps. "Cleaned her up for IG, but the stench is on her. A baby's involved, it's deeper than rap. We talkin' character, let me keep with the facts. You are hiding a child, let that boy come home Deadbeat mothaf**ka playin' border patrol, ooh."

The song continues, "Adonis is your son and he deserves more than an Adidas press run. That's real. Love that baby, respect that girl."

I guess Rih Rih finally decided to start listening to her impatient fans...

Rihanna tweeted a link to her new single this morning writing, "First single 'Work' featuring Drake from ANTI is here," The song which was first premiered on the Scott Mills BBC1 radio show in London features a slow winding melody, similar to that of the the pair's "Take Care" track.

As of the Bad Gal's entire album, ANTI, there still isn't an official release date, but rumor has it the album is slated for release before this upcoming  Friday...

Boo'd Up: Secret Celebrity Couples

New couple alert! - My sources have told me that these celebrities may be creeping around with each other or in some of these cases, re-creeping. 

Let's start with Kendall Jenner. Kenny is rumored to be texting and dating Lewis Hamilton, a professional race car driver from Britain. A little more dirt on Mr. Hamilton is that he actually just got out of a 7-year relationship with former Pussy Cat Dolls lead-singer, Nicole Scherzinger! Even more, Hamilton is 30 years old, while Kendall is just 19. It looks like the Jenner sisters like their men a bit more mature. The pair met at the amfAR 22nd Annual AIDS Gala event at this year's Cannes Film Festival. The two were spotted jet-skiing and hanging out in Paris. Kendall was even spotted wearing her new boo's gold chain!

Next up, we have Ashanti spotted tweeting rumored boo, San Francisco 49er, Darnell Dockett. Judging from her interview on the Meredith Vieira show, it looks like the two are currently in a long distance relationship. Ashanti said:

"For me, personally, because of our lifestyles, it’s great. I just got back from Miami and jet skis and all that kind of stuff. So it’s fun. The passion is there; the longing is there. You make sure you don’t go too long without seeing each other. But, because of FaceTime and videos and all of that good stuff, it does make it more interesting. But I would never purposely say, ‘Hey, I wanna find a guy that lives [away]."

During the time of the interview Darnell was on vacation in Miami and currently lives in Arizona, miles away from Ashanti. 
 

Wait there's more!-This isn't' the first time the two have been spotted tweeting each other! Back in 2013 when Ashanti was still with rapper Nelly, Darnell mentioned her in a tweet saying that he was "looking" for her! The world may never know what's going on between the two with how private Ashanti is, but it's fun to watch!

Re-Creeping- Drake and Rihanna. The names are so commonplace I really don't even have to go into detail about them. So let's get straight to it. The two were in a relationship a couple years ago, but then called it off and dated other people. The two then rekindled that old flame and dated for a couple months early this year before Rihanna apparently called it off because Drake was said to be "too clingy" (I can believe it). 

Fast forward to today and the two have been reportedly creeping around with each other but this time musically. Rumors have been swirling that the pair have been having extensive studio sessions together, where they have been reportedly ending the night with clubbing and cuffing! The pics below are after another one of the power couple's studio sessions.

The two have been low-key about the rumored relationship keeping us all in the dark.

Holy Union- "Jelena" (Justin Beiber and Selena Gomez) okay the two are not together, together, but they have been spotted out together yet again! The on-and-off-again couple reconnected on a more spiritual level while attending church service given by famed preacher Rich Wilkerson Jr. The two have been spotted in multiple church services together, meaning they are amicable. Hopefully this could possibly bring the two together for good, but we'll leave that one up to God (no pun intended).
