Fabolous x DJ Clue: Freestyle Series
"I come from the era where you really had to live it
Couldn’t say you Bentley and really a Honda Civic
Everything you said paint a picture so vivid
So when I talk Clippers know that I could Doc Riv it (swish!)
Big man, pace yourself like Roy Hibbert
You feel froggy then leap – stop all the ribbit
I pop up at your crib and cats looking like Xzibit
Box braids and mean mugs, I mean thugs
Type you would merge with on some ‘Purge’ shit”
-Been Around the World (Remix) Freestyle
As part of his weekly freestyle series, Fab releases a new freestyle over a classic track every Friday night. The tracks all have that classic mix-tape feel with their straight A capella and metaphoric rap-style. The authentic feel may have something to do with Fab's reunion/collaboration with DJ Clue, who helped him get his big break back in 98' after free styling on Clue's Monday Night Mixtape Show. There is where Fab signed to the budding Desert Storm Record label, making the rest history. With so many hot tracks released so far, it's kinda hard for girl to choose just one, but I have to say my favorite has to be the Been Around the World (Remix) freestyle. The entire track is classic Fab, filled with smart-a$$, quick witted metaphors. He also makes quite a few references to Drake's latest album, If You're Reading This it’s Too Late, which is another favorite of mine. You can listen below!
