Texas Cop Pulls Gun on Teens at Pool Party
Sunday, June 7-In McKinney,Texas an officer has been placed on administrative leave after a video surfaced of him wrestling a 14-year-old girl to the ground and using a gun during a confrontation with other teens during a pool party.
In the video, the unnamed officer can be seen repeatedly grabbing the small girl by the back of the head and slamming it into the grass. You can also see the officer grabbing other teens while also screaming in their faces.
Two Sides to a Story-The black teens involved claim that the whole incident occurred after a white neighbor used a racial slur right before she slapped one of them. But according to McKinney Police Chief, Greg Conley and residents, the incident began when officers responded to a report of a disturbance involving a group of juveniles at a neighborhood pool. When officers arrived, residents and private security pointed out the juveniles, who were "creating the disturbance, fighting and refusing to leave," Conley said.
Brandon Brooks, the person who shot the video, said that he attended the pool party after finding out about it on Twitter. In an email sent to NBC News, Brooks said, "When I started the video was right after all the kids who got put on the ground had gotten up and ran away. The cop was chasing after all those kids just putting every black person he saw on the ground,"
In the end, only one person was arrested for interference with the duties of a peace officer and evading arrest.
This incident is just one of the many recent cases where officers have had violent altercations with African Americans with some even resulting in deaths.
