Kelly Rowland Channels Icons in Mane Addicts Shoot
I feel like I'm always playing it safe when it comes to my hair. I never do anything too crazy to it like big curls or a super short cut out of plain fear that it just wouldn't suit me. So I tend to settle for simpler looks like sleek middle or side parts and mid-length bobs. All of these looks are easy to maintain and very versatile, basically comfortable. And after seeing my girlfriends with so many different hairstyles one would think that I would be inspired to try something new or exciting, but of course I usually end up sticking to one of my old faithfuls.
The Game May Have Changed. I recently stumbled upon this set of photos of Kelly Rowland channeling different beauty icons including Diana Ross, Sade, Bianca Jagger and Farida Khelfa Goude for Mane Addicts , a site dedicated to delivering the latest and greatest in the world of hair!
After looking at these photos I fell in love and became super inspired to do something big! The look that stood out the most was a long, curly look inspired by French style icon, Farida Khelfa Goude. The look is gorgeous and from the looks of it, very versatile. Essentially both the things I look for in any hairstyle. The other looks are fabulous as well from the sleek ponytail to the cropped waves. Below you can check out the photos along with a description of how the look was achieved straight from the celebrity stylist herself, Kim Kimble.
This look was" inspired by Farida Khelfa Goude, who had the most sculpted long curls. Kelly wore her hair extra long and natural curls were defined with a small curling iron, then separated with product. Her hair was then pinned and tucked around the face to create the illusion of fringe."
“So the inspiration for the looks are other iconic artists, like the first look we did capturing Diana Ross, who back in the 80’s had that big, curly, textured mane. There’s one album cover I had that wasn’t her typical tight curl, it was more like a loose, messy, lion’s mane type of hair so I’m using that as my inspiration.”
“Then the next inspiration was Sade,” says Kim, “so we have two extremes. One tight, pulled back twist, which is a cleaner version, but still a strong statement with the hair. The other version was bigger and more wild. So we have two opposite looks. Kelly is the type of girl that can pull both of those looks off. She can do sleek, or big.”
"Her hair was set in large rollers, then brushed out, creating a larger bouncier curl. Then gathered in the back and tucked into a faux bob. Paired with a pill box hot, she exudes 70’s class."
