Balmain for H&M
Yes you read correctly. Balmain is coming to H&M!
Like H&M's past high-end collaborations which included Alexander Wang, Versace, Lanvin and Karl Largerfeld, this one is predicted to be epic.
Balmain is a fashion house that was founded by French designer Pierre Balmain in 1945. The line sought to bring lavish and high end couture back to the fashion forefront. After Balmain passed away in 1982, the house was headed by a slew of other fashion greats over the years, one in which included the late Oscar de la Renta. Fast forward to today, Olivier Rousteing is now the creative director of the ultra-stylish label.
The line's purpose is to make Balmain available to everyone. In an interview with Vogue Rousteing said, "H&M allows me the unique possibility of bringing everyone into the world of Balmain, getting a piece of the dream and creating a global #HMBalmaination: a movement of togetherness, fuelled on a hashtag. The collaboration felt extremely natural to me as H&M is a brand that everybody connects to. It calls for unity, and I am all for it."
On Sunday evening, H&M confirmed the collaboration on Twitter stating " It's official! #BalmainParis is H&M's next guest designer collaboration!" with the hashtag #HMBALMANATION. Prior to the big reveal, models Kendall Jenner and Jourdan Dunn were on Instagram stating that they had "some news" to share with us at that last night's Billboard Awards. Later that evening Rousteing brought it all full circle when he posted a video on his Instagram page (check it out below) promoting the official new ad for the BalmainxH&M collaboration, which is set to be available later this year on November 5!
BTW! If you guys are at all familiar with the past design collaborations at H&M then you all know that the high-end lines sell out fast!
